Sommelo 2024!

The theme for the folk music festival Sommelo 2024 will be In the Pasture. There will be shepherd’s music and songs from many angles, from many countries, in diverse and intense ways. And as before, there are fascinating courses starting just before the festival.

In the Sommelo Kantele Course, we will explore improvisation and expressing our own emotions through music. We will also learn some shepherd melodies from traditional kantele players and create our own versions and interpretations. The course is suitable for anyone interested in improvising on the kantele, regardless of musical background. Kanteles of all sizes are welcome. Teacher: Arja Kastinen.
